Category 6: Continuous Coverage Scanners

The BC-796D offers almost continuous frequency coverage of the VHF/UHF scanner bands in addition to its APCO-25 digital capabilitiy.
BC-796D Continuous Coverage Scanner

All Radios in this Category feature:

  • Virtually continuous frequency coverage from 25-512 and 806-1300 MHz (excluding the 824-849 and 869-894 MHz cellular phone frequencies as per US Federal Law and often the 956-1240 MHz band)
  • Military Air (225-400 MHz), FM Broadcast, and VHF TV Sound (Channels 2-13);
  • Selectable mode (AM, NFM, WFM) and selectable search step size
  • At least 200 channels (usually 400 to 2000 channels)
  • Most were Top-Of-The-Line Receivers when manufactured
  • Many newer ones are also Digital or Analog Trunk-trackers and are also listed in Categories 4 or 5
